Greetings from Forest Avenue! This is basically the view from my apartment (I got the photo from the internet to avoid disclosing exactly where I live). I’ve lived on Forest Avenue for a few months now and it’s mostly been a very positive experience. Although it’s tough living on a busy street with little nature, I’m blessed enough to be within walking distance of Back Cove and Deering Oaks park which provide a nice break from all the concrete and care fumes.
I still can’t help but find it ironic to live on Forest Avenue and have no forest in view. I like to imagine a long time ago, before Portland became the busy port it is today (and has been for quite some time), when back cove flooded much of my surrounding neighborhood and there were no houses or roads.
